Hello, my name is Jack Callil. I’m deputy editor of Crikey, an Australian independent news publication. I’m also copyeditor of Meanjin, a quarterly publication of essays and creative writing. Previously, I was digital editor of Australian Book Review, one of Australia’s leading literary and cultural magazines.

I write literary criticism for Guardian Australia, and my writing has appeared in The Age, Sydney Morning Herald, The Saturday Paper, The Monthly, Australian Book Review and Vice, among others.

In 2020, I was a finalist for the Walkley–Pascall Prize for Arts Criticism, and I was selected as an emerging culture critic for The Age/SMH. I was the 2017 winner of the Lord Mayor’s Creative Writing Prize.
